[Year count: 121] Hey! I just made the most difficult decision regarding Galucca... It became too much building, should-have-been-done building, and behind schedule with building, you know. So I decided to bring in more characters to the development story. Seeing the town development through a few selected families.
I know, I know, it's totally impossible to keep track on the names and relations and you-know-what for a full town, and those individual stories might not be the reason you stop by anyway. But we are less than 80 years away from the day when Cathrina and Alexander Wooblershield will arrive Galucca to check out Seagull Cottage. I think it's time to spend more time with the locals...
So, I've chosen 5 households that we will visit on a regular routine. I'll make sure to include a few overviews etc along the road, too.
Soooooo... due to building that should have been done yesterday, we'll postpone the Castle visit, and instead you will get to see a brand new area! Yes, I've been busy building, just not busy enough - lol!
Pettonta Heights, the Seylouse family
Pettonta Heights is a short street near Pettonta Castle, just north of the city area, and a little higher than the town. This is a top notch address! Count Gustavian (or should we rather credit Countess Maria?) used the four plots of land to bribe some of the most important families of Galucca.
All to the left resides the Dipperwell family. Count Gustavian convinced Priest Edmondius to bless the Pettonta Family Cemetery, and the Dipperwell family got the opportunity to buy this lot, where they now reside.
Far off to the left resides the Seylouse family. They own the big paper industry in the worst end of the harbour area. They simply were rich enough to pay a good price in order to live above town.
Far off to the right, resides Countess Maria's nephew, Baldrinand Wooming, married to the quite younger Anne von Salamand (Count Gustavian's niece from the upper Farmland). They got the town's first swimming pool, which actually did upset the Countess quite a bit.
Finally, all to the right on the picture above, reside the evil Lady Helena (daughter of Count & Countess) with her husband Marvin Asterwood, who is of a decent class. Countess Maria used the lot to get Helena a good husband.
The house above belongs to the Seylouse family. All the four houses are based on the same floorplan, but because the area is steep and the lots are of different sizes, the 4 packages came out slightly differently.
At this side of the street the entrance is facing north, which is the highest point of the lot. The sunny side is more private, although the view down to the ocean might not be quite what the owners expected. Uhm, in case anyone wonders, the green parasol was a gift from the Dipperwells next door :)
On the sunny side photo you can see the Pettonta Castle up there in the background, of course on a little higher ground.
Well, say hello to the Seylouse family:
Mr Lodvic Seylouse is very successful, both ambitious and frugal, and he built up the blooming family business, Seylouse Industries Inc. from scratch. The factory produces paper for use both locally and abroad. He is a born salesman, quite on the tough side. When he finds some time, he enjoys reading.
Mrs Andrine Seylouse is quite the handful some of the time, but with a big heart. She has built a reputation as Galucca's leading charity lady, but some times her snobby attitude comes in the way for her good intentions. She is good at building her networks, but this far she has hesitated to involve the Countess. Wisely, if I may add...
Lodvic and Andrine have 2 children, Louis and Chloe. Louis is the future heir to the family business, and he can hardly wait to get into the chief seat. But he's still just a teen, and will need to focus on his studies for a while. He inherited his father's tough business sense, but he also has softer qualities (naturally a teen boy won't admit just that...). He's got a secret: He was abducted by aliens a few nights ago!
Finally, Chloe is the youngest, but she is already quite aware of her status. She actually tend to be more successful than her brother, and if Chloe had been a boy, he/she would have inherited the business, not Louis. In Galucca brothers are main heirs. Still, Chloe also has interests not quite matching their style, such as fishing and silly jokes...
Louis and Chloe spend hours in their study... studying. They have been taking classes all over town, and are pretty skilled for their age.
Also Lodvic and Andrine read a little. Andrine reads stories about poor kids who probably would need her charity. Lodvic mostly studies mechanics or finances. (I didn't notice until now, Andrine forgot her nail polish this morning, what has the world come to?)
Louis is a tad different from most boys his age. After school he normally walks over to the factory, and although he hates being too young, he loves the thought of walking in there one day to conquer this place. He loves it so much, that some days he is seen doing his homework next to the factory fence...
PS: The lighter brick building next to the factory is the house where the Seylouse family used to live before they moved up to Pettonta Heights. Maybe that explains why Louis hangs out here so often.
Of course they got rules, but Andrine isn't really a very strict person. She generously wants to help those in need, especially if she can spend other people's money on the course. Charity is not free of charge, mind you! She has collected contributions from the other families up here at Pettonta Heights. Several times. Andrine's latest good mission was to arrange a fun event for the poor miscoloured kids from the upper Gal District and Lower Farmland, those miner- and worker families' kids who got a crazy skincolour defect from the big catastrophe few years earlier.
Lodvic is not at all into astronomy. But he can often be seen on the 3rd floor terrace trying to check what's going on down there at his factory. You can see the smoke from the industrial chimneys down there in the distance. He goes there to work only a couple days of the week, meaning others are in charge of the daily matters. But can they be trusted?
Enough for today... we'll stop by again later!
Bonus pics:
Next door Nikodemus Dipperwell has married Marbelle Sacroville. I left the green plumbob on purpose to match their ideology, The green above... :)
