Build wise I'm currently learning to build apartments and clubs in the city area of Galucca. It's too early to show any results though, so today we'll stop by at the Fogdale household in lower Farmland district. This is the poor quarters.
Here's an overview to refresh your memory again. Old Mine Road leads to the Farm district, and you see the factory smoke back there, the abandoned mines are just behind the factory. There are just 4 families in the lower Farmland district, Fogdale, Humph, Gruston and Gnomes. They were all affected by the catastrophe 14 years earlier, having kids with weird skin colours and possibly a few other abnormalities...
The Fogdale house is one of my favourites in this area, it's the only of the 4 houses with a tiny attic that s big enough for a bedroom. And they also have a stable, although the old horse died some time ago. This family originally tried to make a living from farming, but also worked at the factory. After the catastrophe the crops turned bad, but that's already 14 years ago, and things are about to re-stabilize.
This household counts 6 persons. Elderly Sandy (Spangler) Fogdale, widdowed since long, and her 3 adult kids, Eremias, Magda and Cody. Eremias married Tusha from the Gruston family, and they had a purple skinned daughter, Misty.
Eremias took over the house, but works at the factory. His younger brother Cody seems to enjoy tending the watermelons the most. I don't think there's actually any conflict between them, Cody is set to move out, and so is their sister, Magda.
Eremias and Tusha hardly tried to have more kids, and Misty's skin sort of made it less likely to happen. They don't know if she got her abnormality from the water after she was born, or if it was passed down through disturbed genes. If the latter, what would a second kid look like...?
Not having a son means the Fogdale name will vanish, unless Cody gets a son, of course. And if he does, will that son return to claim this house, pushing Misty aside? Time will tell...
Tusha is pretty concerned with the mis-coloured kids. They are too poor to make any impact on community or politics, but she wants to gather all the families that were affected, to raise a claim. Why doesn't the Council care more about these kids? Nobody really figured out why newborns got weird skin colours during the time following the catastrophe.
So, Tusha walked over to the Gruston house, where she grew up. Her brother and his wife Lilly (Hill) also had a special kid, Didrik Gruston, but Lilly didn't applaud Tusha's plans. In fact, it's a problem that most of these poor households seem to deny the situation. The kids is just one concern, another is how their crops and soil was ruined from the polluted rain.
Tusha's dad, still a fresh elder, never protested either. He is a dedicated farmer, and built up a reasonable big production just before the catastrophe. Gardening works better again, but it's still hard to sell anything grown in this dump.
Tusha walked back home. Hungry, as usual.
Eremias' sister, Magda, is single, although she was always popular among the young boys. They called her Magda with the boobs, and I don't blame them ;-) Magda loves all kinds of adventures, and is planning to move out.
The locals do refer to the lower Farmland district as the Dump. And it sure is Galucca's filty backyard.
I wasn't quite expecting old Sandy to die quite yet, but she did! She originally grew up at the Spangler Ranch in Gal district, that's how this poor family got a horse in the past. In a way her passing is convenient, because the house is too little, and she used to sleep on the couch in their living room. That's where also where she died.
Grim Reaper was very sociable tonight. He wanted to communicate with several household members, but all the queued actions canceled each other out, so basically he was stealing their time.
They definitely could use some more light in their kitchen. And little Misty also wants some toys. And maybe they should buy a new horse. But they are poor and unsuccessful, and I think the dark corners suit them...
That's enough for now! This is the 3rd household that we will stop by regularly, meaning just 2 more to go. Next stop will be the Malone house at Gal district (Sunny Fields) - yepp, quite the contrast :) Or wait, maybe I'll feel the urge to show off some of the new city builds first...
