[Year count 148] So, Galucca is constantly growing, and I finally had time to build some more in the uptown area - the area that connects City and Old Town. This is where the gardener Everet Malone was asked to create a public garden.
Ex-countess Maria is often seen in the eastern tower, she can't rest now that she is 106 years old, and no longer is able to keep up with all those modern changes around town. In the old days she knew everything about new builds, owners and networks. It was easier back then, a smaller population. These days those extreme changes come overnight!
You might wonder what happened to the poor kids that Maria tricked to search the old Pettonta Gral down underground? Well, Countess Constance, the children's mother was furious at Maria, and Maria was furious at the children, Baron Gustav and Lady Lincia, because they didn't find the old grail. The kids are teens by now!
This morning the entire household was gathered for breakfast. Well, everyone but the butler of course. Countess Constance is very excited about the new park that will be officially opened today! Lady Lincia is less interested, but it was decided that the entire family will go there. The opening will be a private event, as the Pettontas donated the ground on one condition; they can close the garden on special occasions. Constance decided that the opening would be the perfect occasion to bring together all their closest relatives. So she invited a bunch of families to attend.
The weather has been strange lately, and on this day they were blessed with heavy rain. By chance, the rain was replaced by fog, at least the garden would not be packed with colourful umbrellas.
This brick building holds many small apartments, and on ground floor there is a café, Love Café (how cheesy :pardon: ), that also serves the garden tables. This quarter is pretty high status, but hopefully the place will attract locals of all kinds. Well, perhaps except a few...
Gardener Everet Malone joined them for a quick tour of the place, before the guests will attend in one hour. He told Countess Constance how he wanted to dedicate the garden to love, actually in honor of his own wife Ursa who loyally stayed by his side for all these years. Visitors can of course easily make the love theme their own.
Maria was disappointed, she had seen this as a final way to leave an heroic memory.
Here's an overview, mind that the outdoor area to the left belongs to next door build with more apartments. Love Garden is not very big, but packed with plants, and the pretty big open area can be used for various events. There are 3 additional gates, making for easy access.
Then the guests flocked to the Love Garden. Louisa (Tackott) & Conrad Rivers with children Burton, Elena, Paulo and Elsa. Conrad is Constance's older brother, he inherited their father's industrial machines business, and he is also a Council member representing Old Town district.
Mayor Erasmus Pearlton with wife was of course also invited, although they are not related to the Pettontas in any way. Maria tried to stick with them, as Mr. Pearlton IS important to any network.
The Thurmingtons and the Heisser-Barksdales admire one of the colourful flower beds. To the left you spot Lady Ronda and her husband Admiral Cornelius Turmington. Their children are Gust and Aria, and Donald who is still a toddler not joining them today. The Turmington used to live in a blue house at Ucca Island, but with no bridge out there it got too isolated, and they moved to town.
Aurora & Hedrion Heisser-Barksdale is seen to the right, their only child is Evora, already a young adult.
In front Gust Turmington and Ms Evora Heisser-Barksdale debate the weather. They know it's called Autumn, but Galucca had only Summer this far, and seeing trees turn golden is quite a change. Also all the rain, and the pretty disturbed daylight (how would they know it's partly caused by some old crappy video card, :giggle: )
The picture to the right shows the Asterwood family. Lady Helena & Marvin Asterwood, and their 3 children Geston, Doxima and Dawn (child). You might recall that Lady Helena is just about as evil as her mother, Ex-Countess Maria.
Count Junato and Countess Constance were first to try the Love Inspector. I never tried this before, and thought the note they got was fun: "Love Inspector declares that ERROR 27 */ Passion Sensors overload */".
Maria must have been a pain to many of the guests. She has lost the grip (that she probably never had), and being surrounded by family, she seemed to think she was privileged. I'm not sure what Lady Helena did to deserve such a reaction...
Then it was time for the speech! Just when Maria thought she was the one to use that microphone, Count Junato took the word. He praised the result, while Maria protested. She thought the fences were ugly, the 3 fountains in a line was misplaced and she did not like the benches either - too old fashioned!
The Pearltons listened carefully. They liked the place a lot and as they reside just across the Plaza, they will probably come here often.
Closing off this update with an overview - quite the crowd! *) Not because you need to keep track on all those characters, but the group that represents just the closest family to the Pettontas, is just a little part of the population. I wonder what it would look like if all of them could pose on one picture! Galucca is getting real big (and slow, too, I must add)!
Next update we'll check if the Seylouse household might have been blessed with a new generation!
*) Disclaimer: My lousy computer can no way allow all those sims on the same lot, the picture was staged...
