[Year count 150] I'm so glad to say there's only 50 more years to go until we'll reach "our time", meaning we are loosing up fashion wise, with a touch of the 60's perhaps! I can't stop by to redo outfits for all and everyone in town, so I'll keep the residents like they are, mainly allowing the new young adults to pick up the newest trends. This way it might be a strange mix fashion wise and I don't really mind that much :)
Let's start with an overview! It even includes a rainbow, could that be a sign of new hippie-winds swiping town? Galucca is growing, and there are even more builds than you can see, because a few houses will appear as empty lots when seen from this distance. In this picture the Seylouse home is gone, but relax - Andrine and Lodvic are still there, with heir Louis who just married Meliss, and they had a child! Louis' sister Chloe is there too, now a young adult. Stay tuned!
This morning Andrine found Lodvic in the study. He was admiring his tiny collection of rocks. In the past Lodvic did hunt treasures, not so much in order to explore the world, but to collect values and make good profit. Once he was in China, and Andrine knows that he would like to go there once again before they get too old. Andrine might like to join him, then they could leave this house to Lodvic and Meliss for good.
If it wasn't for the poor residents of Galucca who desperately need Andrine's charity. Sigh.
Louis did replace his father at Seylouse Industries, Inc. Their family business, producing paper mostly used for newspaper both in Galucca and abroad. It's a very demanding job, even more than he expected. He spends most of the day in his office. Although Louis is mean spirited, he is also good and nurturing. Now that they had a daughter, Anitra, he would like spending a little more time at home. Perhaps in a few years when he controls the factory worker better.
Louis' younger sister, Chloe, just grew up. She kept visiting the local Arts Academy weekly to practice painting. The new guy in charge there, Gust Turmington, paid interest in Chloe, and before she knew it they were dating, and dating again, and then Gust proposed marriage! (ok, poor Milton Moonster, but you know, he should forget her anyway...)
One day Chloe introduced Gust to the family. It was quite the disappointment to Andrine, because she had worked so hard to bring Chloe together with Baron Gustav Pettonta. Chloe would make a perfect Countess, now all those efforts seemed wasted.
But it wasn't really that bad! It turned out that Gust Turmington's mother is Lady Ronda Pettonta, who is Baron Gustav's Aunt! So, in a way a tie to the castle WAS indeed made!
Gust is main heir to the Turmington house just west of Galucca Plaza, and Chloe moved in with his folks.
A little later Andrine walked down to inspect the new Love Garden, but due to some light rain she hid inside the tiny Love Café. What a silly name! And the purple woman working there was plain awful! Andrine bragged about her charity for the miscoloured kids some years ago, but there was no respect in return. Such rudeness, was this what to expect of the modern era? Andrine had noticed that young people of today were lacking manners.
While trapped in this room of rudeness, Andrine realised that her job was done here in Galucca. There were probably crowds of poor sims in China, waiting for her charity rescue! What if she raised some funds and then joined Lodvic for a vacation? But first she would need to report this weird employee to the Love Café owner!
Back home, Andrine found Lodvic spying on whatever there was left to spy on. He often does that, although tall buildings had blocked most of their view, even from this roof terrace on 3rd floor!
Meliss was out walking. She works hard to becme a novelist, but currently she search inspiration. She just joined a tour of Wooming Soil Facility where the scientists still analyze those toxics up in the Dump. All those barrels of secret results. Of course Meliss could have used the tragic events 40 years earlier for her next novel! But would it be a good idea? Wouldn't she step on too many toes?
She needed a drink and headed to Old Town.
At Suzi's Heaven, she always felt welcome. And the popular owner, Suzi Baruba, would probably know some facts and rumors about those toxics, no? And a glass of nectar could help, and another would help even more.
Then Suzi's son, Tonny Baruba, told that this popular place might be shut down. Ex-countess Maria, or Countless Maria as many call her, had seen Tonny serving nectar after closing hours, which was strictly against the rules. Should Meliss feel guilty? The council will handle the case on their upcoming meeting,
Meliss felt more depressed than she normally does. The place had closed for the night, but she needed just a final glass. Just like the other night. And Tonny served her.
Next update will be from the Moonsters at Moon district!
Welcome!
I'm developing Town of Galucca from wasteland to a thriving city. On this blog you can join the journey through 200 years. I'll post weekly on the progress, but you will mostly learn about the progress through the stories of local residents. I think there might be 5 generations to go, let's find out! :)
This is a spin-off blog from my Greench Farm legacy.
All my stories (and more) are now gathered from my new blog, Simmerville's Sims.

Pettonta Castle: Love Garden
[Year count 148] So, Galucca is constantly growing, and I finally had time to build some more in the uptown area - the area that connects City and Old Town. This is where the gardener Everet Malone was asked to create a public garden.
Ex-countess Maria is often seen in the eastern tower, she can't rest now that she is 106 years old, and no longer is able to keep up with all those modern changes around town. In the old days she knew everything about new builds, owners and networks. It was easier back then, a smaller population. These days those extreme changes come overnight!
You might wonder what happened to the poor kids that Maria tricked to search the old Pettonta Gral down underground? Well, Countess Constance, the children's mother was furious at Maria, and Maria was furious at the children, Baron Gustav and Lady Lincia, because they didn't find the old grail. The kids are teens by now!
This morning the entire household was gathered for breakfast. Well, everyone but the butler of course. Countess Constance is very excited about the new park that will be officially opened today! Lady Lincia is less interested, but it was decided that the entire family will go there. The opening will be a private event, as the Pettontas donated the ground on one condition; they can close the garden on special occasions. Constance decided that the opening would be the perfect occasion to bring together all their closest relatives. So she invited a bunch of families to attend.
The weather has been strange lately, and on this day they were blessed with heavy rain. By chance, the rain was replaced by fog, at least the garden would not be packed with colourful umbrellas.
This brick building holds many small apartments, and on ground floor there is a café, Love Café (how cheesy :pardon: ), that also serves the garden tables. This quarter is pretty high status, but hopefully the place will attract locals of all kinds. Well, perhaps except a few...
Gardener Everet Malone joined them for a quick tour of the place, before the guests will attend in one hour. He told Countess Constance how he wanted to dedicate the garden to love, actually in honor of his own wife Ursa who loyally stayed by his side for all these years. Visitors can of course easily make the love theme their own.
Maria was disappointed, she had seen this as a final way to leave an heroic memory.
Here's an overview, mind that the outdoor area to the left belongs to next door build with more apartments. Love Garden is not very big, but packed with plants, and the pretty big open area can be used for various events. There are 3 additional gates, making for easy access.
Then the guests flocked to the Love Garden. Louisa (Tackott) & Conrad Rivers with children Burton, Elena, Paulo and Elsa. Conrad is Constance's older brother, he inherited their father's industrial machines business, and he is also a Council member representing Old Town district.
Mayor Erasmus Pearlton with wife was of course also invited, although they are not related to the Pettontas in any way. Maria tried to stick with them, as Mr. Pearlton IS important to any network.
The Thurmingtons and the Heisser-Barksdales admire one of the colourful flower beds. To the left you spot Lady Ronda and her husband Admiral Cornelius Turmington. Their children are Gust and Aria, and Donald who is still a toddler not joining them today. The Turmington used to live in a blue house at Ucca Island, but with no bridge out there it got too isolated, and they moved to town.
Aurora & Hedrion Heisser-Barksdale is seen to the right, their only child is Evora, already a young adult.
In front Gust Turmington and Ms Evora Heisser-Barksdale debate the weather. They know it's called Autumn, but Galucca had only Summer this far, and seeing trees turn golden is quite a change. Also all the rain, and the pretty disturbed daylight (how would they know it's partly caused by some old crappy video card, :giggle: )
The picture to the right shows the Asterwood family. Lady Helena & Marvin Asterwood, and their 3 children Geston, Doxima and Dawn (child). You might recall that Lady Helena is just about as evil as her mother, Ex-Countess Maria.
Count Junato and Countess Constance were first to try the Love Inspector. I never tried this before, and thought the note they got was fun: "Love Inspector declares that ERROR 27 */ Passion Sensors overload */".
Maria must have been a pain to many of the guests. She has lost the grip (that she probably never had), and being surrounded by family, she seemed to think she was privileged. I'm not sure what Lady Helena did to deserve such a reaction...
Then it was time for the speech! Just when Maria thought she was the one to use that microphone, Count Junato took the word. He praised the result, while Maria protested. She thought the fences were ugly, the 3 fountains in a line was misplaced and she did not like the benches either - too old fashioned!
The Pearltons listened carefully. They liked the place a lot and as they reside just across the Plaza, they will probably come here often.
Closing off this update with an overview - quite the crowd! *) Not because you need to keep track on all those characters, but the group that represents just the closest family to the Pettontas, is just a little part of the population. I wonder what it would look like if all of them could pose on one picture! Galucca is getting real big (and slow, too, I must add)!
Next update we'll check if the Seylouse household might have been blessed with a new generation!
*) Disclaimer: My lousy computer can no way allow all those sims on the same lot, the picture was staged...

Fogdale family: Teens of the Dump
[Year count 145] It's busy (and a bit tricky) times in Galucca. There's so much that should be built in the town center, and historically the time is more than due. And - there are lots of locals growing up everywhere, and when a family had 2 sons, the second one would need a new home, right, but the number of vacant lots is limited - except from the city flats that were not yet built. Sigh.
Excitingly, many of the miscoloured kids are growing up too. Unfortunately for most of them, they come from low status homes, and therefore can't pick just any spouse available. Seems like they will couple up as far as it goes. Many of them reside the Dump...
So, it's time to check back on the red skinned Misty Fogdale and her parents, Tusha and Eremias. :)
First a quick stop at the Humph house next door. Eremias' younger brother, Jody, just moved in with the girl next door, the red skinned Brit Humph. They are not married yet, but the house was in need of a man as Brit's old dad died, and her old mom was arrested for stealing two gravestones. One stone was the long missing stone after late Countess Rosanne, Count Junato Pettonta's mother. I have no idea how the stones ended up in the Humph family inventory, but I do recall that Brit's dad Bob Humph used to sleep on the bench at the old cemetery, long ago. He might have been a kleptomaniac?
Brit's mom was released this morning, and unfortunately she was charged a big fee which this poor household can't afford...
Misty's dad, Eremias, has become an activist. Today he joined the group protesting against the Council's plans to support the Galaxy Science Program financially. The group thinks the money could be spent in wiser ways. Who needs flying to the Moon anyway? It won't be possible, and then all investments will be wasted!
Tusha has turned much older, you might not even recognize her... She is quite disappointed with Misty who got a leg inside one of the factories (Garton Technologies) but hardly shows up when she is supposed to work. Tusha thinks she is wasting her possibilities, while Misty simply doesn't want to work - she is just a teen for Similius sake!
Tusha sent her daughter out to tend the little vegetable garden, or they will have nothing to eat for dinner.
Then some of Misty's friends turned up at the gate, wanting her to hang out with them. These are actually most of the teens of the Dump these days. Only the youngest Smith son is not pictured. To the left is Emma Hydront, the waving blue one is Shellith Gnomes, and the guy is Didrik Gruston. Didrik is Misty's cousin.
Misty had to work in the garden until dark.
Then they ate dinner, and her parents were more quiet then they normally are. Hm, I couldn't help noticing how Tusha has certain eating manners, while Eremias eats like an animal... Misty seems quite disgusted by her dad's routine.
Finally Misty could run over to hang with her friends. The night is rather chilly, and the heavy rain storm surprised them all. Isn't the weather a bit weird?
The factory back there is Iron Winds, owned by the Count. The teens of the Dump use to meet just over there, behind that old car. The house to the right is the Gnomes home, where the blue girl lives.
The teens often talk about breaking into the factories, or even into the von Salamand home up at Upper Farmland. Mister von Salamand represents this region at the Town Council, and the teens know very well that he does so because of his money and vague tie to the Pettonta Castle through his marriage. One time Didrik broke into one of the closed mines, but they didn't do much harm, really.
So... Didrik and Shellith having something going? Misty had no idea at all!
Misty thought to herself, please don't grow up! What would she do when all her friends became boring adults? And to be honest, she didn't even expect that the kids of the Dump would ever find love. Had they not been told, ever since they were toddlers, that they should not expect much from life?
If Shellith could fall in love with Didrik, and Didrik with Shellith, then it should also be possible for Misty to find someone! A new and quite shocking thought!
Meanwhile, back home Tusha and Eremias had a serious talk about their future. Eremias will soon get elderly too, and Misty is their only kid. They have no savings, and this house is actually too big for them. Now that the nights have become colder, they would need to find a way to heat the house
*). They should either sell some of their belongings, or find a smaller home. But how about traditions? Eremias grew up here, and his grandparents built this place. Hm...
*) This far, Galucca only had Summer. The Fall-ish weather is upsetting most of the town.

Malone family: Secrets
[Year count 144] It's just 56 years left of this community story spanning 200 years. This means that sims being born these days will most likely be around when Cathrina & Alexander arrive Seagull Cottage Bed & Breakfast (their story is told on my Simmerville's Sims blog. They are slowly discovering the past of Galucca - including mysteries you will recognize from the Galucca story on this very blog :)
You might remember that Ursa S. Malone had a secret love affair with a monk of the Monastery of Similius. If so, you might wonder how this would turn out, and so did I :) Ursa was happily married to flower producer Everet Malone, and their two boys are now teens. Ursa is actually family oriented, and had a very tough time as she realized she got pregnant with the monk, Rallo Plisterwood.
Ursa managed to hide the pregnancy for quite long, by wearing wide dresses and keeping her hubby on a certain distant. At this time Everet wanted to expand their house, and he became very occupied with that project, and when Ursa suggested to go away for a few months, it actually sounded like a good idea. Their home was chaos.
Ursa made up a cousin living far away, who had been through tough events, needing to go away to recover, and Ursa wanted to keep her company, helping with her recovery. Instead of leaving Galucca, Ursa had made a deal with Vespula Z. Silver over at the shady Moon District. That's about as far you can get from Sunny Fields of Gal District where the Malones reside.
Ursa dressed in dark clothes to not be recognized, and Vespula greeted her at the gate. On the day they made this deal that Ursa could hide here with the Silver family, Ursa was observed by Katherine Moonster, but Vespula had told the Moonster woman a lie to cover it all well.
Vespula is head of the secret MSW, and she also runs a tiny magic store from her home. She is known to help locals when Constant Hope Hospital is not an option, and Ursa paid her well. Their deal was to hide Ursa until the birth, then Vespula would find a new home for the baby. This way Vespula was paid twice, first by Ursa and then by the baby's new parents. Good business idea!
But even if it was all well planned, a surprise occurred when Ursa gave birth to twins! Vespula refused to find a home for both, and Ursa had to deal with the baby boy herself....
Ursa left the Silvers at night, and while the monks were busy studying, she put her newborn son outside the Monastery of Similius. She knew that in a few minutes the monks would gather down there to debate those green bars, like she knew they did every evening before their last meal for the day.
While Ursa was gone, Everet and the boys were busy building them a bigger home. One day Everet was called for by the Pettonta Castle!
Countess Constance Pettonta is eco-friendly and Count Junato Pettonta loves the outdoors, and now they wanted to donate a city lot to secure a green lounge for the city region. A city matter like this would of course need approval from the Council. The new garden would need to be fenced in, but would be open to the public for minimum 3 weeks every month.
Everet was asked to develop the park, and although he always dreamed of creating a Botanical Garden, a large park would be the next best thing.
At 2 City Street the land was still pretty much untouched, and although the areal was much smaller than Everet could wish for, he decided to make the best out of it. By helping on the project, Syrup and Steven would gain valuable experience.
Finally the new home was ready! Ursa had announced she would return this day.
Syrup is the one with lots of hair, he is the oldest. Steven is the skinny one, but he somehow looks very strong. Although they are both teens, of course they have missed their mom very much!
The previous house was just the ground floor. Now the bedrooms have been moved up one floor, giving more space to their daily area. The empty room behind the kitchen is their future dining room, but currently they can't afford to equip it.
Technically this is a status 4 home, meaning their house networth value is limited to §40.000 + §10.000. They are currently a little over §50.000, but this rule ain't that rigid. For realism, they will need to wait for the new additions to decay in value, until they can afford to buy more stuff.
Ursa loved the changes, and when the boys requested mom's pancakes, she rushed to the kitchen. While cooking, she could not get her thoughts of the newborn twins. She felt terrible about the whole thing. She would of course not see the monk again, she didn't even know if he was still serving the Monastery. Would he understand that the baby boy is his son? And what about the little girl?
Ursa tried not to cry, tried to let go of those thoughts...
It was great to be back home, and they all chatted loudly, the boys had lots to tell, and everything seemed promising.
Syrup is talking about Timara Onioon, the much younger girl who wanted to become his girlfriend. Now that she finally became a teenager, Syrup is about to grow into a Young Adult...
We're leaving the Malone family for now. Next update we'll check on the Fogdale household of the poor Dump :)

Moonster family: Full Moon
[Year count 143] Milton grew up earlier, and as the only child of Katherine & Detch Moonster, he is expected to marry and to take over the little house at 2 Moon Trail quite soon. So, how's he doing?
Before we check on the Moonsters, I wanna show you the new town Council. Right after the election there was a photo session in front of the Town Hall.
From left to right you see Count Junato Pettonta (City region), Tommy Spangler (horseman, Gal district), Mayor Erasmus Pearlton (residing at Plaza), Luc Silver (Soldier, Moon district), Jodriam von Salamand (Farmer, Farmland district), Conrad Rivers (business owner, Old Town region).
Although Camille Kragger already was on the Council for the past 10 years, as the first woman now replaced, it seems she was ahead of times...
The new Council is facing many interesting cases, new technology, a modern need of detailed stores, and of course there might be a few elderly residents complaining when the younger generation starts wearing shorter skirts. Not sure these men would mind a lot, but they need to deal with complaints, formally.
Okay, back to Moon district...
Milton and his dad, Detch Moonster, just had lunch. Milton did sign up as an Angler - following family tradition, but he still kept his old easel although not painting as often as before. Now that Chloe Seylouse no longer hangs out at Arts Academy, Milton go there only once every week.
Detch has asked Milton to join the secret MSW, replacing Detch as a member. In Moon district nearly all households are represented with one MSW member.
Milton needs to sleep on it, and he won't need to decide right away because he can only be accepted on a Full Moon meeting. It's too late signing up for tonight's full moon meeting, but next time...?
Detch will attend tonight's meeting, where a new member will be introduced.
Meanwhile Katherine Moonster, Milton's mom, tends the secret garden. This is where MSW's meetings take place. The building was erected here in memory of Esphella who was thrown into the deep well by the countship's soldiers long ago. Katherine never paid interest in MSW, but she helps with the lovely garden.
Katherine gets to keep some of the harvest, but will normally give the rest to Vespula Z. Silver, who is the current head of MSW.
Today Katherine noticed a highly pregnant woman leaving the Silver house, was it the flower farmer's wife? Vespula was upset that some women stopped by to get help with some unwanted pregnancy. She could help them if they took action as soon as they knew...
This said - Ursa Malone had covered her pregnancy very well up to now, wearing wide dresses (no idea why she had to wear a small dress for this visit...). More about her in the next update...
Milton got a new interest, news! Every day he walks to town to buy Galucca Post from Mr Sloth's kiosk. He reads every word, and he sort of admires those locals who put together all those news. He has no plans of becoming a Journalist, but he finds it terribly appealing!
So, he can now subscribe to Galucca Post? How smart! Paper delivery and all, WOW!
While Milton was there, Chloe appeared with her mother. Milton knew Mrs Seylouse would talk to Mr. Sloth for a while, and took the opportunity to chat with Chloe. But she was not interested, what happened?
Back home, Milton read the hot news carefully. Ahem... Milton, perhaps you should take a break...?
A fly blocking this flame-killing-machine? Careful there, Detch!
A little later the MSW meeting was up...
A blond woman rushing through the gate, heading for the little chapel. It's Gloria Moonster, Detch's cousin!
The group gathered around the very old table. Vespula brought her copy of "Black Journal of Magica" - a few spells would be needed for the upcoming ritual. The blond guy is another local, and you recognize Camille Kragger wearing a purple top.
After moving in at Seagull Cottage, Gloria had studied some of her late mom's old belongings, she even found a copy of the Journal. She really wants to join the community, even if it's just in the memory of her mom, Luphelia Moonster. Gloria was asked not to wear floral patterns at future meetings, but as a first timer she was excused for now.
The MSW is guarding some Unicorn remainders, kept near the old well. It gives them strength for performing spells, and the energy helps growing special remedies. They also keep Esphella's urn, right here in the chapel.
Then Vespula gave Gloria the black ribbon necklace, she is to keep it until another new member joins MSW. A necklace holding a special power...
